Googlegeist is an orientation programme for all new Google employees. As part of the programme, a 10-15 minute activity was included in a segment to introduce the new employees to the SOPs within the marketing team. The brief was to design a traditional jigsaw puzzle which attendees would piece together and figure out the steps in the SOPs along the way.
The final pitch which the clients bought was the idea of illustrating a children’s playground, wherein different courses would be used to represent each step of a marketing campaign. Using removable stickers as puzzle pieces on a printed board with a matte-laminate finish, the production deadline (of a week) was thus met (client originally wanted traditional jigsaw pieces which would heighten cost and time taken to produce). The sequence numbers attached to each step were deliberately separated as individual puzzle pieces themselves to make the activity slightly more challenging. The flat board was designed to be folded in half to make the take-home souvenir more compact.
A set of decals from the puzzle were given as souvenirs for new employees.
